The Bishop James Bayley Award

  The Catholic Committee on Scouting is pleased to announce the creation of the Bishop James Bayley Award.  This award replaces the Father Junipero Serra Award which is no longer available.

 Previous recipients of the Father Junipero Serra Award are not eligible for the Bishop Bayley Award.

The Order of the Sword of St. George Award

  The Archdiocese of Newark is proud to announce the creation of a new religious award for both Scouts and adults.  The name of the award is 'The Order of the Sword of St. George' and was created by our Chaplain, Fr. Vic Kennedy.  St. George is the Patron Saint of Scouting and is often depicted slaying a dragon.  The purpose of the program is to learn how to pray.  Some of the requirements include participating in 9 First Fridays, learning to pray the Rosary, doing the Stations of the Cross, and Eucharistic Adoration.  This Archdiocesan award can be earned multiple times and will be presented on Scout Sunday at the Cathedral Basilica in Newark.
